Well, rode as a kid...

I'm not sure exactly what I want to do even. I do have to start getting some regular exercise and running is out due to back trouble. I'll be reading a lot, and hopefully asking some questions as I try to figure out where to start.

I'm leaning towards a mountain bike, I really like being in the woods, and don't think a road bike will agree with my back. I'm not super interested in extreme trails, just getting out and riding some trails I guess.

Pete

well, the road sport certainly sounds interesting. More research required.

Thanks all! Realized I left out some relevant info.

I'm 44, 5'10" and ~240#. Needless to say weight loss will be a big goal (along with fitness) for me.
