Hello from Albuquerque, NM
Home of the Land of Entrapment! OK, a intro... how to do a intro without sounding like a dork... Been riding about a year and a half now, I bus and bike into work love biking, haven't hit that part of forking out the big time cash for a high end bike. First bike was a Mongoose Mountain Bike, rode it for a little over a year, loved the bike, frame broke where the frame meets the crank, no receipt, so i was SOL. Aluminum Frame, I figured it was my weight and the abuse I gave that bike. Loved the bike, but, within the first year, replaced both rims, the peddles, both tires, derailleur was frame mounted, bought a axle mounted and never had a problem since then, well, until I broke the bike.
I'm a big old guy, 47 yrs old, 6'3" at the time I started riding I was pushing about 330 to 340lbs, have trimmed down alot since then, down to about 280 now, a long way to go yet. 2nd bike that I currently ride is also a Mountain Bike, Schwinn, steel frame, stripped parts from my dead Mongoose, rims/tires, seat, wires, derailleur, etc, always good to have extra parts...
I just bought a GMC Big Kick, so its back to Aluminum frame again to see, needed a back up bike, and it looks like it can take my abuse of my weight, so we shall see...
Trying to increase my riding as much as I can, I never drive anymore, even go grocery shopping with my bike, pull a kid trailer behind me for the grocery bags.
Since changing to my current job, I don't get to ride into work as much, the distance is twice what my old job was, used to bike 7 miles one way into work 4 days a week. But, I still try to ride at least half way in before jumping on the bus to finish the transit into work.
OK, dorkiness is over, glad to find this place, hope ya'll havea great weekend!
