Hiya from Londonshire

Evening from the cold wet land of London, UK!

I've grabbed my bike from up north, brought it back to my home in the big smoke, and decided to do some riding to improve my complete and utter lack of fitness (without going to a gym eww).

I came across the site while looking for some problem solutions to the problem or two with aforementioned bicycle. There may be a post or two asking some seriously dumbass questions - and for this I apologise in advance.

Welcome! I don't know how people go from work to a gym all the time, I love to be outdoors so cycling is perfect. Post up some pics of your bike when you get a chance.

Welcome to the forum - I look forward to reading your posts

How far OOP North were you before living in London?

I lived in Nottingham for 10 years.

I hear they just introduced a new community bike scheme in London is that true?

Gyms confuse, scare, and usually hurt me! Falling off treadmills isn't as much fun as it looks. And I would post pics of the bike but I'm convinced it'd either break my camera, or I'd get banned for "appearing to mistreat a bike by way of locking it in a garage during most of my university career".

Thanks In terms of up north, properly - I'm from Scotland. As with all media/tv types, I've ended up doing the inevitable move to Londonshire.

Yeah the "Barclays Cycle Hire" thing. Reminds me of the Paris one but doesn't seem as good, possibly because I'm more aware of the cost.

Nice - my mother is from Aberdeen and my fathers family was on the border for generations

I was living in England for 7 years before every going to Scotland (shame on me) as I just thought well its just a line in the dirt it means nothing - but it really is a different country! I loved it!

I am from Perth in Western Australia so of course I had to take a trip to the REAL Perth
