Hi from Bill in Tallahassee
Hi my name is Bill. I have lived in beautiful N Florida for 37 years. I am retiring from teaching in February. I started thinking one cool thing I could do is ride from campsite to campsite or friends house to friends house...I mean why not!? So thanks to these forums I gleaned that I should go with a bike that was older and higher end to see if I take to this sport. So I see a Pinarello on CL buy it for 120 Now I am thinking this bike may be too light and fast for what I am thinking about doing. Soon I want to post on Vintage with pics to see if someone can tell me the model I have apparently Pinarellos are hard to ID. Hope to spend more time here and figure out things I need to know before I set out on the road!

Welcome to Bike Forums Bill.
If you're planning on touring, you might want to get a new or newer touring bike. Older bikes have downtube shifters (scary ). Bike manufacturers switched to brifters in the late 80s/early 90s. The shifters and brake levers are right next to your hands. No need to look down in order to shift.
The folks in the 50+ forum can offer good suggestions. Many of them are retired (including me ).
You can also try the Touring forum for help or suggestions.
Have fun on your tours and post pics.
