40yo, new to cycling, wanting to get into tri.
Hi,
my story is probably a familiar one on here. I'm 40 and looking for something new to do, and my mate has started doing Triathlon, so he's trying to talk me into it. I don't even have a road bike!
So, I rang another friend who is bitten big time by cycling (he's been doing it for years now), and he's assured me that i should spend $2k on a bike "so I don't regret it 6 months down the track". Sure Troy, the missus would love that! But I take your point. I'm thinking more like $500......
Anyway, just thought I'd say hi, and see how it all pans out. Ive had a quick look through the forums, and it looks like there is plenty of info and friendly people happy to lend advice and experience, so this looks like the place for me. I'll need all the help I can get!!
Cheers,
Chris.

Welcome to Bike Forums.
You'll have a tough time finding a new road bike for $500. Most low end bikes start around $650.
Perhaps your cycling friend can help you find a used bike on ebay or craigslist that is your size.
Good luck and have fun.

Welcome to Bike Forums! Stop by the Triathlon forum and say hello.
You really don't need a $2K bike for triathlon. You need what works for you.
