So here's my story. By day I'm a mechanic at a local Medina bike shop. But more than that, I must confess I'm addicted to bikes. I love bikes and have since I was a kid ( I'm 47). I collect bikes (over 100) and I enjoy fixing them up and riding them. In addition to my antique bikes I like to make up special bikes. A couple of my favorites are a Robin Hood fixed gear and a Lemond single speed. My current project is a chopper/cruiser I'm making from an old Montgomery Ward twin bar frame. Luckily I have a wife and family understand and sometimes share in my obsession. I hope to be posting pictures of some of my bikes soon ( if I can get my camera to work). I look forward to talking to fellow bike junkies out there wherever you are. Later.

Hinckley?!? Buzzard country! I remember my friend and I riding our bikes from Parma to Hinckley Lake to go fishing one summer. I had my Raliegh Sports converted to a one-speed coaster brake. I couldn't do that now at 43 years old!

Welcome to the forums. There is a lot here that should interest you. These forums are bretty good. Not to many flame wars like other forums. I'm not to far away since I'm in Wellington. Our local cycling club has rides out that way once in a while. So you have a passion about bikes like I have for old electronic equipment. Both can take up a lot of room and get expensive after a while. Oh, well, just a harmless hobby, he, he. What do you currently ride? I'm one of those who rides a geek bike (recumbent). Trying to find homes for an old Raleigh Grand Prix, Raleigh BMX, and a Trek 1000. The Raleigh road bike needs paint and new components/wheels. It has the old lugged steel frame. The BMX has bad frame rust but might be serviceable, has the "tuff wheels". The Trek needs a good tuneup, cleaning and tires/tubes. I rode it this spring before "getting 'bent". The Mrs. really wants my two wheel "treasures" out of the garage. She wants the room. Also need room in case we get her a trike (Catrike Road or similar).

The lake and the buzzards are still here but it's probably a bit more built up than you remember. When i don't havetime for a long ride I like to do a couple circuits around the lake. It's a pretty good workout and I'm still close to home. Later.

Thanks for the welcome. You're right, my bikes take up a good part of my basement. Like I said, I have a very understanding wife. At least she usually knows where to find me. Funny you should mention recumbents because that's her favorite bike. I currently ride a GT ZR.1. I'm Hoping to put the new Ultegra 10 speed on it. Good luck finding homes for your bikes. I already have a couple old Grand Prix's and I don't really collect BMX bikes. The Trek sounds interesting, but I really don't need another road bike. You might try Ebay or locally put an ad in Crankmail magazine (www.crankmail.com). You can probably pick up a free copy at any bike store. Later.

Welcome, bikejunkie! This is a really cool forum. Hmmm... local Medina bike shop? Would that shop happen to have the initials CC? If so, it's my favorite around here, and I'm in Middleburg Hts -- worth the drive! (Maybe you recognize the bike in my avatar to the left?)
