Here in Rochester,NY
I'll be turning 60 in February, and while I walk a mile or two each day on my lunch hour, I'm obese.
My annual blood work checks used to be straight down the middle of great results, until the last couple of years.
My wife and I bought kayaks three years ago, and have a great time with them from Memorial day to Columbus day. But the logistics of kayaking with prep, travel time and time on the water make it more recreational than exercise.
My doctor is after me to lose this weight (both of us), so we're ramping up our exercise regimen this spring.
Western NY is blessed with incredible water and bike resources. And we will take advantage!
Can't wait to start riding in May...

Hey, yesterday was a fine day for riding. ;-)
I'm also from Rochester - a lot of people really don't appreciate how nice the biking is around here. Everything from the flat canal path to the hills of the Finger Lakes. It's a great place to live!

You might want to investigate the Rochester Bicycling Club - usually over 350 rides planned a year - from short flat rides, to medium and metrics/centuries all around the Rochester area.

They are still working on this year's ride calendar (fitting ride leaders to the rides), but check out the calendar anyway - it's filling up. Oh and you do not have to be a member to do that ride. Enjoy!

Welcome to Bike Forums. What bikes did you or will you get?
