My name is Sam. Clearly I'm not the first. I live about 50 miles south of London and 3000 miles east of Ohio where I was born and grew up and cycled on my paper route.
Here's a picture of me:
That bike, a Marin Sausalito, was later stolen on Tottenham Court Road, which is a place with lots of electronics stores and tourists and the occasional bicycle thief. It was my "born again" bike, meaning the first one I bought after spending a longish stretch not cycling.
I currently ride a Litespeed set up as a singlespeed, a Langster, a Dahon Presto Lite converted to singlespeed because apparently I like singlespeeds, a Bike Friday, and a Ridgeback Genesis day 02 which doesn't go any further than a turbo these days.
Although I am intrigued by fixies (and know enough about them to be aware how much some people hate the word FIXIES), I love coasting too much to ever give it up. I believe William Wallace said it best:
Most of my riding is in the countryside, though I love city cycling and regularly take the train up to London just to play in traffic.
Many of my views on cycling are summed up here.
