Hello from Washington

Hello,
Last spring I decided to start riding again. I had not ridden since I was a kid. I purchased a Specialized Hardrock and put quite a few miles on it during rides with family and friends. I have decided that I want to ride in the Seattle to Portland ride next year, so I'm going to be working on getting in shape for it this year. I have been researching road bikes and that is how I found this web site. Looks like lots of good information on here. I look forward to learning a lot and getting into shape for the STP.

Chad

That sounds like a long ride, how far is it?

See you in T&N.

The STP is about 200 miles and is done in either 1 or 2 days. I will be doing it in 2 days.

Hello from a fellow Washingtonian. Don't forget to peruse the PNW forum here.
Good luck on the STP! That's a great goal. But be careful, that ride is also mayhem!. Be sure to do some group rides and familiarize yourself with etiquette and safety. STP can be pretty dangerous.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Regarding the STP, I have heard the same. A good friend has done it. He's going to pass on all his lessons learned and tips for making it a success over a cup of coffee (that's what we do in Washington as you know, drink coffee, lol) one of these days. As I'm planning on doing it in 2012 I hope that I can go into it well prepared.

Welcome. If you're into vintage VW's then you'd probably feel right at home checking in at the C&V forum here. Great information and I guarantee you'd end up with a vintage road bike to go on a vintage VW. Feel free to stop and say hi if you're ever coming through Ellensburg.

Yep, vintage VW's it is. Restoring my 1963 Beetle now. Funny you should mention the C&V forum. I've actually been looking at some older road bikes. Unfortunately, my "hey, that looks cool, I'll just fix it up" attitude towards old stuff has put me in a position where I have way more projects than time and money more than once. Although, bikes don't take up that much room........ hmmm.
