Hello

I'm Tom from the Pacific Northwest. We live in Central Washington and normally the riding is good up here but I'm afraid for a while we won't get any riding done because it hasn't been above freezing for a few weeks now.
I just bought a Renovo wooden bicycle and am really anxious to take it for a ride longer than the 50 feet I've ridden it so far. I had it built as a hybrid so it's got gearing like a mountain bike with a Sram compact drive set and semi flat bars.
My wife and I normally ride Trek 7.9 FX and it seems like the new Renovo rides very much like the Treks except the Renovo is gorgeous. I weighed the two bikes and they way within ounces of each other, less than a 1/10th of a pound.

Hi Tom,
Have you posted a pic of the wooden bike yet?

Hi Tom,

How's your Renovo experience so far? I've had a frame on order with them since late November, but it'll be several more months before it's ready. We just settled on final wood selection earlier this week. I'm still undecided on the final component mix, but am leaning toward something like an IGH, belt drive, disc brake combination. My preference would be for drop bars, though, as I never really liked the flat bars on the Trek hybrid I was riding until it got wiped out by a car in December.

Renovo

Yeah Crow, they take a long time. It took about five months to get mine. Both my wife and I love it , it's beautiful. I just ordered another one for my wife. We both have Trek FX7.9s and like the flat bars but the Renovo has "gull wing" bars and they're a little more comfortable than flat bars. It's equipped with Shimano brakes but has a Sram compact drive train.
We're origionally from the S. F. Bay Area. Where do you live in Cali?

I'm in Sacramento. I moved out here from Louisville about four years ago. I did live in Monterey for several years, but that was way back in the 70's and 80's.

What woods did you end up choosing for the Renovo(s)? I've been going batty trying to decide; they all look so good! After a lot of coordinating with Sarah, we tentatively are going with a birch/wenge combo, but I may revisit that at final decision time.

I'd probably have my bike in April, but I'm holding off a bit; I'm now waiting for them to finalize the design of a new frame style that will supposedly be a better match for me. New tentative delivery date is more like June.
