Hello from Colorado Springs
Finally got an account here after getting plenty of direction over the years.
Name is Dallin Skelton. Been riding on a full size bike on the road since I was six. I am 31 in May so that gives me 25 years of road riding experience. My first bike was a Fuji Blvd. XC. Steel frame from I think 1974. Not the cream of the crop as far as road bikes go, but for an all-around bike it was. The Suntour components still deliver today as I keep it in working shape.
My first road bike was a 2001 Trek 52 series, size 56 cm. on clearance at the beginning of the 2002 season. It was a little big for me so I soon swapped it out for a 53 cm. 2004 Lemond Zurich Steel/Carbon mix. I love the bike and still ride it. I swapped gruppos in 2009 for Campy's Super Record 11 and have put 1000 miles on it since (I know, not a lot for 20 months of cycling).
I just bought my first indoor trainer, a Lemond Revolution. Comparing road feel, I like it the best and the noise hasn't bothered me too much yet.
My big issue with indoor trainers is the sort of disconnect. I'd like to experience virtual reality on a quality trainer but its too expensive and non-existent. I think there is potential with game consoles nowadays offering games for bike exercise, but I have yet to see a good companionship to bring it to the consumer world. It's 2011, I think we should be there as there is a demand for it.
I love Colorado Springs for the biking mecca that is Colorado, yet C/S is way too busy traffic-wise to ride for me. I only ride on the Academy AFB as I am Active Duty Air Force and can easily access it.
My mountain bike is a 2004 Specialized Epic. I love the fox brain shock in the back and the disc brakes on it. I don't ride as much off road as on but I can't justify getting rid of it, nor justify updating to the 29r world, although I would love to if I had some extra cash.
Anyway, that is me, sorry it was so long.
