Welcome to Bike Forums.

You gotta get clipless pedals. I had Look Keo for 2+ years. Last summer I switched to Shimano SPD-SL because they have a wider platform for my wide foot. Much better.
Post pics of your bike in the Road Cycling forum.

Long term, I like Shiman SPD-SL or Look Keo. But if you're nervous, Speedplay is the easist to learn.

Welcome!

After a couple of weeks of riding, double tap will become second nature. So will clicking out of your pedals.

Welcome to bikeforums and hope you make your way over to the road forum. There is a lot of knowledge over there, just remember to bring your thick skin. Along with the knowledge comes a lot of good natured ribbing.

It took me a while to go to clipless too. I practiced clipping in and out by positioning myself in a door way so I can hold onto the wall with one hand. When I got used to that, I took my bike out to the yard (on grass :p) and held onto a tree and did it. Then I pedaled the bike a short distance while still in the grass and clipped in and out till I got brave enough to do it on the asphalt. Just remember with spd you twist your ankle away from your body to get out of the pedal.

Good luck!
