Kaz says hello

I'm kaz, I ride bikes. My current ride is a 2008 Bianchi Volpe named Goldie (natch; see below; now with celeste bar tape). She's not a looker, but functionally she's a great little bike. I ride to work as often as possible, which is almost every day because I'm lucky to have not only an indoor bike rack but also a locker room and showers in my office building. I like to put in serious miles when I get a chance on weekends. (I also have a Trek FX 7.2 WSD step-through hybrid that I bought before I knew I'd become hella obsessed and keep it around for my winter bike.)

Right now I use my Volpe as my around-town bike, but I'm currently obsessing about a ss/fg and hoping to pull the trigger on one soon.

Finding bikes that fit me -- I'm 5'1" with a super short 26.3" inseam but long torso -- is my biggest bike-related annoyance, made more challenging by my aesthetic preferences for straight top tubes.

Hi Kaz,
and welcome to the forum. Hope you like it. My wife is 5' 2" and used to ride a Bianchi.
She rides 650b now. It was so nice, I wound up getting a 650b for myself.

What's Spring like in Chicago? We rode today, mid 40s.

Hi 10 wheels and late, thanks for the welcome.

I'm eyeballing the Fuji Classic Track in a 43cm, which comes with 650c wheels. I didn't want to go 650 on my touring/commuter just because it's nice to have the same tube size as everyone else if you get bad luck and multiple flats. But for an around the town short mileage bike, I think it's worth it for the better fit. We'll see - I found a bike shop willing to order/stock the tiny size (most wouldn't without me buying it sight unseen) so I'll test ride it as soon as it comes in.

Weather here is typically mid 50s this time of year, which is about where we are today. Good amount of rain and fun temperature swings (it'll be high 40s Friday and 80 by Sunday).
