Downtube shifters or nothing.
I've learned what I think of as quite a lot from here and there to learn how to work on my two bikes on the cheap and geeky, and want to be a part of this community to learn more (maybe even help, though the expertise here is pretty impressive).
I commute on a 1992 (I'm pretty sure) Giant Rincon solid frame MTB that I've had since middle school but have recently single-speeded and switched to slicks as an urban commuter. I call it "Red," 'cause it is. I do other training (and triathlons - yes, I know...) on my early 70's (best guess) Falcon San Remo that I just picked up a few years ago. My wife dubbed it "Rusty." I suppose I deserve it. But when I upshift on the downtube for a pass, I can start humming "American Flyers," so it's OK. |
Welcome!
Why do you like downtube shifters so much? |

Welcome, I have bikes with both downtube, brifters and thumb shifters. I really like brifters the older I get. I do like my thumbies and downtubes for trimming ability though. That is one place where they beat out brifters for sure.
