New rider from Sacramento, CA
Hello all, I'm new here to the bicycling scene. I recently discovered the American River Bike Trail nearby where I live, and I have to say I am hooked. It's simply stunning out there this time of year. The trail runs about 80 miles round trip, which I believe should be perfect for getting back in shape.
My parents don't ride much anymore and they let me use their equipment! One bike is a Trek and the other is a Jamis. I probably look like a rookie out there, struggling with $1000 bikes, but hey.. I'm enjoying every minute of it. Beats the hell out of those monotonous gyms!
Anyways, I'm sure I'll be here posting quite a bit in the first few months, trying to learn as much as I can about this sport. Any tricks or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I love the American River Bike Trail. It is one of the gems in our area. This is one of the most scenic trails around. Enjoy.
