New here and have some ?s

I miss commuting. After a bad accident with a truck many years ago I decided I wanted in again. My problem is finding the right bike. Im 5'4 overweight and have very short legs. I have a bike now that has a 16 inch frame with 700c tires but I can't touch the ground while I'm on it. I have to get off at a curb most times. Am I buying the wrong frame size? I love the 700c tires as it seems to give more speed.
I like this forum as you seem down to earth here. Just what I need......

Did the videos help you some?

My feet/pedals are 4 inches above the road surface while riding.

Ah it took a while cause I thought it would explain how to size a bike. Maybe I don't have the wrong bike but need help on getting off and on? Am I correct? Then yes it has been helpful.

Sizing with short legs might require actual help from a bike shop or a rider that knows fitting.

My wife is 5'2" and we are quite familiar with your problem.

Look at bikes with 26 inch wheels, and 650b wheels.

You will need to poke around a bit to find what you want,
you'd be surprised at what's out there to be found.

My wife rides 650b.
