    Hello

    Hello all,

Well as of Tuesday I've been a cyclist again! Just getting into the sport and joys of riding a bicycle again since my junior high days and it's really been an eye opening experience of how out of shape I actually am in (in my 30s). But I am determined to make this a life time change and just one of many other steps taken to get myself fit again. I always did enjoy my old dirt bike as a kid and early teen, so with a love for the outdoors, hiking, and camping I'm hoping that cycling will just be the final niche to get me really serious about my health.

So I picked up, at least what I think, a good starter road bike, a Schwinn Varsity 700c. I don't know if that was too much for a slightly overweight and under fit fellow as myself, but today I had a comfortable, albeit short ride. Just really need to get my breathing under control and work on endurance, but that's why I'm here on these forums for inspiration, tips, and help.

    Welcome Bike Forums.

Take it slow. Ride much. Rest when you need it.
Practice flat tire changing at home.
    Have fun.

Ask questions when you need help with a problem.

    Thank you

I've been doing short daily rides around the neighborhood for the time being. I think I finally got it to fit me well, hence the comfortable ride today. Just there are no real flat level sections so I tend to give out a bit easily on the inclines and end up breathing from my mouth too much.

Just taking it one day at time though, and grocery budget is going back into fruits and vegetables and lean protein come payday.
