Hi all!
Have been reading here for awhile. This place is an absolute treasure trove of information for anyone who enjoys biking, etc.
I live in Oregon, and have ridden recreationally off and on for several decades. I started with a cheap p.o.s. Vista 10-speed in high school(35+ years ago) that lasted me for many years past high school and college, until it finally met it's demise due to rust(I lived on the coast in the formative years of my new Vista...lol) and a bent front fork. (Still, to this very day, I have no idea how it got a bent front fork, unless maybe it started out that way....lol)
Been currently riding off and on, an older Iron Horse 18 speed mountain bike, which I bought when it was brand new. It's a decent ride, and really enjoyable for camping and harsh dirt conditions and such. Not much fun for road riding and local errands.
Joined this site because I felt I needed to since I had been reading it for awhile, due to my current road bike search. Am wanting to get back into leisurely road riding again, because I have always enjoyed it so much, and also because I need the fitness benefits of it all since I am now into my 50s. Have been looking at older Miyatas, Univegas, Schwinns, Centurions, Fujis, you name it, etc......as well as bikesdirect.com. I'm tending more towards the vintage bikes, due to many of the discussions that I have read here about buying good vintage bikes and upgrading components, etc.
Looking forward to actually being a member of this site, finally!
