Return to cycling after 15 years
I've been running for the last 25 years but have now been told it's time to stop. I just had my 2nd meniscus repair so this time I'm listening.
I have ridden the STP (Seattle to Portland ) a few times on a hybrid but have bought a road bike (Madone 4.5) since if this is going to be my method of exercise, I want to have a bike where I can put in the miles. In week one, I have ridden approx. 75 miles, which may not be a lot but considering I had the meniscus repair this week and have already done two sessions on the bike on a cycleops, it's really not too bad! |
Howdy and welcome to the forums! Congrats on the new bike, take it easy, try not to over do it, let your wounds heal, but if you feel good then go for it.

Welcome to Bike Forums. I'm going to assume you're familiar with how to keep your knees healthy while cycling.
In my experience, ex runners are generally fast - they already expect to suffer. |
Welcome to the forums and to cycling. Got pics of your Mad-one?

Welcome Steve.
Your doctor let you ride only a week after a meniscus repair? I had my right knee done (old work injury) 3 years ago and my doc (sports medicine and bike commuter) said 4 weeks on the trainer. Had my left knee done last week. Again 4 weeks on the trainer. Maybe its an age thing. I'm 66. Good luck with your knee. |
Hello and welcome!
