Grimsby Roadie

Hello all. I got a Giant Defy 1 at the very end of june. Love the bike, and love riding around my beautiful chunk of the world. I might get a mountain bike soon too, because I live 5 minutes from the bruce trail.

Anyways, this seems like a busy forum, that's why I joined it.

I can totally do that next time I am out. I am not kidding at all though. Wineries are abundant out here. I probably pass 20-30 on one ride.

You must be talking about Grimsby, Ontario.

Welcome to the Bike Forums fellow Ontarian! How are the hills down there? I hear they're something.

They are pretty good! On the shorter side, but plenty steep in sections. There are so many access points to go up or down the escarpment, that you can just kinda zig zag from Stoney Creek to pretty much St.Catharines (if you could make it the whole way).

I've been wanting to ride from Grimsby to Toronto along the Lake shore, but I don't think I can cover the km's yet. My girl friend lives in the West End off of Parkside, so my final destination isn't that hard to get too... It's just the over all km's...

Do you ride alot in Toronto?

I ride mostly in the northern part of Toronto and my main ride consists of a circuit around my area. I try to get in about 10km a day. Last time I was out, I only got 8km and there was a 30km/h plus headwind which made it a bit harder.

Toronto itself has some pretty good trails as well. I hear the Don Valley Trail is very nice and scenic. I'll have to try it sometime when I can ride longer.

I have driven through the valley that I presume the Don Valley Trail is in. There is a rockin' hill climb off of that if you have the energy. But the trail does look good. Seems to me there is a little bit for every biker on there, be it roadies, mountain bikes, or those stunt bikes. I seem to remember a lot of variety in that short section I saw.

When did you start riding?

Yes there is. I think there are actually two paths on the trail, one that's paved, and one that's loose dirt.

I started riding seriously just a week ago. Before that, I used to bike occasionally but it was nothing too serious.
