Hello form NYC (Queens)
My "new to me" 2009 Jamis Ventura Comp I found on Craigslist. PO lives very close to me and bike was purchased and serviced at the LBS that I trust the most, so that's a big plus. Plus, PO is a really chill guy. Bike seems to be very well taken care of (only ~ 300 miles), with stock components except for upgraded Mavic Aksium Race wheels. Wireless Cateye a nice throw in. This is my first road bike and it should serve me well for a few years until I feel the need for something better. But who knows, that day may never come!! Excited to take this bike out on it's (2nd) maiden voyage - already rode this morning before purchasing it and am pooped, so it will have to wait. LOL!

Have only been going weekend very early mornings for rides with a friend (~15-20 miles). Gonna hitch up with a group he rides with for more "organized" rides that are longer (30-50 mi.), but I think I'll be trying to ride outside of NYC more. NYC drivers scare me!

I would like to ride with others. I ride alone locally for now, but would be interested in one of the group rides. Do you have more info?

Its actually just a large group of riders from his neighborhood that he rides with. Haven't ridden with them yet so I'm not sure what they're all about.
Have you checked at any of the local LBS like Robert's if they know of any rides?

well, being your first ride I would say that it was a great starting point.

I bet if you went down to the Cross Island Pkwy path, there'd be plenty of riders who could fill you in on any rides or groups out there.
