So I quit smoking 6 months ago...
after 29 years. I'm 47 and that tour the US idea that was always in the back of my head has become a full on obsession. A mid life crisis, 50lbs overweight and a serious need to hit some sort of reset button.
I loved bicycles when I was a kid, until I got one that had a motor on it.
Looks like a cool site!

I finally stopped smoking almost two years ago after smoking for 25 years. What a difference. Congratulations and welcome. Do you have one without a motor attached now?

I do have one without a motor attached now, I've been taking it out a little here and there.

Probably everyone could be triggered by some factor to quit, who knows what that is with each person. As much as I valued my health I'm positive I would have smoked till I died. The cost of smoking jumping to $128 a month was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Crazy that my own health wasn't a important enough reason.

DEK I used a cop out and went back to smoking after that month, but I tried one of those e-cigs do it, took a couple false starts but seriously was amazingly easier to quit like that, maybe she could try one? Initial setup is sorta more money, but even if she kept smoking those in the long run it's cheaper.

If I'm an alcoholic having drinks is probably not going to cure me. And so it is with quitting smoking, any nicotine containing product is not going to help you quit. Every time you use a nicotine containing product you are essentially starting over on quitting. 
For those interested in quitting I can offer this. The first 3 days are terrible, letting yourself snack on anything helps because it literally is an hour to hour even minute to minute battle. The smallest puff or chew of tobacco of nicotine gum sets you back all the way to ground zero, DON'T DO IT! After those initial 3 days its the next 3 weeks you gotta get through before the cravings finally ease off a bit. After 3 months you are good to go long as you don't give in to the odd craving that comes out of nowhere. Food is your friend in quitting smoking, you can figure out how to get rid of the fat later.

Congrats! My girlfriend and I quit on January 1st. Apart from a couple of cigs on a particularly wild night out, we've kept to it. Put on a little weight at first, but riding is a great way to take it off, and boy do my lungs work better now.
