Hi, I'm john from Adelaide, South Australia and am a rider from my childhood. (I'm in my sixties now). I've only become serious though the last two years after my daughter invited me along the local Amy's Ride. I had a MTB then and realized I needed to get something better suited. I now have an Orbea alloy/carbon cross with Campagnolo gears and I'm loving it! Thanks to threads like those on Bike Forums, I was able to get opinions on revising my gear ratios whilst still keeping the derailleurs. I wanted to get a better mix of low gears for climbing hills. We often ride up to Crafers & Mt. Lofty on a Saturday morning; all these from a suburb at the bottom of the hill. With my new compact front crankset (Campag of course) I now have two more lower gears for the climbs. I can't get enough of looking online for other stuff about bikes, particularly steel framed units. I want to build a classic bike for touring, but with modern gear. I'm in no hurry, just loving the journey.
