Hi from the edge of the Florida Everglades

Jim here in Palm Beach county, realized I should be a member after months of finding the most complete and useful info on bikes here every time I searched online.

I'm currently upgrading from two big box bikes to better steel framed steeds as I am about 240 lbs. and don't think having a frame go underneath me would be much fun.

My current projects are the clean up and sale of a 1997 Fuji Palisade cruiser, re-assembling a 2001 GT Timberline mountain and a 2001 GT Nomad hybrid with 700c wheels so I can do as clean 'n close a comparison of the differences in ride feel, acceleration and response between the different sized wheels and geometry. Just thought it would be fun and may put a internal geared hub on the Nomad if it seems right.

My area is not particularly bike friendly but I'm trying to make the full effort to use bicycles as my main form of transport, for the usual reasons. The six months of the year here when the temps are above 90F and the humidity is about that high and it thunderstorms most every afternoon make this daunting for a big person, so I won't be selling the truck right away.

Thanks for maintaining this great site!

Hey, Tampa. Thanks, I really like your city, especially the great old oak trees and that beautiful bay. Always try to hit the Sunshine State Parkway when I'm on that side of the state, it's one of the most beautiful manmade things ever IMHO.
