Hello from Houston, TX

Hello everyone!
I've been following bike forums occasionally for a few years and finally decided to join. Other people posts helped me more than anything else in picking my bike two years ago - Giant FCR 2. It is a hybrid with road bike frame with flat bars, comfortable 700x35 tires...
Due to humidity in Houston and extreme laziness I did not ride a lot, but I finally started to be more active.
Before coming to Houston, I averaged 45' a day commuting in Serbia. It was very safe over there in Europe since car drivers are paying attention to bikers, unlike here where you need special trail just to be safe.

I tried commuting here 10 years ago, but they hit me twice, no injuries but not good anyway..

Howdy, hope you give commuting another try
even though you had bad experiences before.

Hey man welcome to BF! I believe another person on this thread also got hit by a car and had serious injuries. Glad to hear yours weren't severe, but the thought of even getting hit is traumatizing... I'm a local houstonian as well! And again welcome to BF

Welcome to BF. Sorry to hear about your accidents but glad to hear you're OK. Yeah, it isn't as safe riding here as in Europe.

Welcome to the big H and the forums. Sorry about the local drivers and it's still not a great place to commute on a bicycle, but we've got some really nice hike and bike trails in some of the parks around town. Happy trails, and ride safe.
