Maryland Noob

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to take a moment to say hello and introduce myself. I live in Southern Maryland and recently picked up my first road bike. I work in the IT field and play photographer outside of the office. Additionally, I like fast cars and drag racing.

Having not rode a bike any great distance since I was child, I decided one morning I was going to take my mountain bike out for a ride. It felt pretty good; I completed an 11.5 mile route in what I considered a decent time and I felt great. After doing this a few times, I decided I needed the right bike, and there has been no looking back. I picked up a TREK 2.1 Apex, in the Ice Green that seems to be unpopular around here, LOL. It's been great thus far, and I'm already working on a few upgrades - I'm a habitual modifier of things I suppose.

While researching everything cycling, this forum popped up most of the time and provided useful insight and even some humor and spirit so it seemed like a place I would like. I hope to be an active member and learn a lot.

Any other MD-DC-VA'ers here?

Here's a quick cell phone shot of my ride.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone.

You're right, DEK, and thats partly why I went witht this color - the other being its pretty close to the color I painted one of my cars several years ago. My cell phone and TREK's stock photos really do the color no justice.
