New tandem rider to the forums

Greetings all, I'm a new member on the forums from Boerne TX, outside of San Antonio. I've been riding for six years, mostly in MS charity rides. My wife has been riding for four years. This spring, we bought a screaming-fast blue daVinci carbon tandem, and we are really loving it. See you out there!

Welcome p2templin, I was intrigued enough to Google your DaVinci, but blue? Anyone will tell you red makes a bike faster. That's according to certain chaps over here.

My wife and I tried tandemming once, one afternoon. And it was only once. She didn't enjoy the job of 'stoker', plus the fact we weren't exactly communicating too well together about: freewheeling, braking and stopping. Well, I wasn't, apparently.

The rear admiral was opposed to red, but that's OK: we ended up with a bike that turns heads everywhere. daVinci does a fine custom paint job for not-too-stiff money. Ours is House of Kolor F73 (Translucent Violet Red flakes) over BC25, with straight sections of carbon masked during primary paint so they show as natural. Silver striping at the blue/carbon transitions, and so many coats of clear that the painter stopped counting after six.

36-speed mixed drivetrain, independent coasting, carbon bars and fork, dual disc brakes. And you don't want to know what "toys" just went on two weeks ago...
