Hi there

Hi from Atlanta!

I'm new to the forums and to cycling in general. In less than a week of lurking, I've already found tons of great information here so I figured it was time to join up

I haven't seriously exercised in years, and have developed quite a gut. I used to play soccer at a decently competitive level, but quit due to a recurring ankle injury. Unfortunately, I didn't change my diet as drastically as I should have, and now there's more of me to go around I tried to pick up running again about a year ago, but my ankle kept telling me it wasn't a good idea. Cycling seemed like a good way to get some low impact exercise, and so far I'm loving it.

My current long term goal is to lose 40 pounds from my peak weight to get back to my ideal (10 down, 30 to go!) and go from complete couch potato to riding a metric century within 9 months to a year.

Hello Lazin Cajun,

Welcome to Bike Forums.
You have a good goal.
Ride as much as you can and rest when you need to.

Welcome LazinCajun.
I see you've found the Southeast Regional subforum and the Atlanta/Decatur thread.
What bike do you have?

Thanks for the welcomes!

At the moment I have a Trek 7100 (hybrid). I'm planning on rewarding myself with an entry level road bike as I meet more of my fitness goals -- probably something aluminum in the Tiagra'ish level, and more than likely with a triple since for now I'm a weenie lugging around extra weight
