Hola from Queens!
I'm a 45-year-old college instructor from Queens, New York and have been cycling so long I don't even remember learning how. I fight traffic and bad roads to get to and from both my jobs but must admit I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to riding in the snow.
When I'm not biking to work, I use my trusty Bianchi to cart my 2-year-old son around the city. He loves riding up from on his Dutch BoBike seat and already understands as many of the rules of the road as he does baseball rules.
I haven't owned a car since 1995 though I do rent one from time to time as the in-laws live 300 miles away.
I've commuted by bike since I started working and have done so in New Jersey, New York, Boston, Virginia Beach, Phoenix and Hiroshima. I've probably saved hundreds of thousands in commuting costs but have no idea where that's gone.
Before the birth of my son, I was quite active in Transportation Alternatives but now limit my activity to captaining a segment of the New York Century once a year and turning up to volunteer at the odd event.
