Hi to all...

Hi and happy Thanksgiving to all, especially cyclists !!
I'm Ron and I cycle in north east central Florida. Terrain that changes from flat to downright HILLY !! And, sometimes windy as heck. What I refer to as the Florida Flat Hills.
Anyway, I love to tinker with equipment as well as use it. I have way too many (?) first generation Cannondale 63cm race bikes/frames, as well as a couple of 27" and a couple of 25" 'Dale ST's. I'm ALWAYS working on a project bike/setup, so I'm ALWAYS shopping for something or another. (Retired purchasing manager, so I guess it's in my blood.)
So, y'all eat lots of turkey on Thursday (and then, go ride it off on Friday!)

Welcome. North east central FL? Mount Dora area?
Nice collection of bikes.

True, but, with "only" 44 posts, I am unable to reply to PM's. I was informed that posting to this forum would give me those privileges, but that has not proven to be the case. Guess I need 5 more after this post!

Tnx. I'm in Astor, which is in between Silver Springs (Ocala) and Ormond Beach (north of Daytona Beach) where SR 40 crosses the St. Johns river.
Beautiful scenery, but not too much cycling done up here. I do many miles solo.I do ride a fiar amount around Mt. Dora, Eustis, and the mountain country in Clermont.

'Bout 40 miles East of Ocala in Astor.
Nice tall Motobecane! Reminds me of my 27" Fuji Royales from 1981-82.

Great! We've probably ,met or at least seen each other. I sometimes ride that way while riding from Altoona to Ferran Park.
I sometimes ride with a friend from Umatilla. We go from Ferran to Tavares and Mt. Dora, as well as other points in all directions.
Have you done any of the shop rides out of Eustis?

Wow, I'm just getting this post now, 7 days after the fact? Hmmm...

Anyway, no, I have not been on any shop rides. In fact, I just got my bike February 14, and I don't know if I will be ready for any organized rides yet! lol. I would probably not be able to keep up with the pace yet. However, I am working on it! I sure do love the sport. I just rode my first 50 miles (longest to date) last Thursday, starting in Clermont, through Winter Garden, and on to the Clarcona Horse Park in Apopka and back, all trail. One hill on the way back nearly killed me! lol I am only averaging 14-15 mph in a mix of flats and hills right now. I find I push myself too hard in the beginning, then drop off at the end. Just have to learn to regulate. I try with a heart rate monitor, but I still end up pushing things for some reason! lol Maybe I'll learn.
