Hello from SW MI
I have been reading the forums for a few months now and decided to join.
I started riding regularly this last spring/summer as part of my get-in-shape routine. I originally just started running, but being out-of-shape and over-weight, my knees were bothering me at first. I started mixing in riding my bike, and I found a route I liked that was 10mi. I continued to do this all summer and into fall, and I found that I liked riding a lot more than running (but still do both).
I probably won't get out again on a regular basis till late winter / spring unless we have some unusually warm weather again where the roads get cleared off (I took a ride on Dec. 31st!).

Ah, I thought it would show up in my post, but I put them in my profile and not in my sig.
I started out using a Diamondback Voyager II MTB, but since I was doing all road riding, I bought a used '06 Specialized Tarmac Comp in early Oct. The Tarmac has helped me to continue to go faster and ride farther, which I have really liked.
I still use the Diamondback when riding with the family to pull the come-along with my 4YO daughter riding it. When the weather was warmer, I would take short rides with my two kids. My 7YO son only learned to ride without training wheels this August, so we take short rides to get him more experience riding on the road.
