Hey I'm djsfix, and here's a little background on me
Don't usually do the intro for myself on forums, but I figured it'd be a good way to meet like minded people.
I'm D, in my early 20's, am pretty open minded, and live in the bay area (northern california). When I was a kid, nine times out of ten, you'd find me on a bike. As I grew, I continued to ride getting further into BMX and mountain biking with my pops.
Fast forward through high school, my BMXing decreased and mountain biking increased, but as time progressed I went less and less due to a heavy work/school schedule
Fast forward again, in April I was in a freak accident where my car was hit by a down power line and it killed the electrical in my car (headlights, dashlights, power steering, etc.) As a result I couldn't see where I was going, it was pitch black at the time, and ended up hitting a power pole and totaled my car Not too worry, I was completely fine. The problem was, I had two beers earlier on in the evening and the police/pg&e used this as a way to bury me with fines and shift the blame from my car being hit by the power line to me hitting the power pole and then the power line coming down.
So I've been car-less since April, and have learned to live without one. After a lot of thought and research I decided to put money I had been saving for a new car towards a new FG bike. Taking into account my health, the environment, gas prices, insurance, etc. I'll still be paying insurance for a family member's vehicle so I have access to a car if need be. So not car-free, but car-light.
I'll be using my new bike to commute to and from work, around 30 miles roundtrip as well as getting around town in general. It's going to be a complete lifestyle change, but it's for the better.
That's a little bit about me related to biking,
