Indiana Newbie

Hey there I'm new to this forum and all forums in general. I tore my ACL up a few months ago and I am waiting on surgery (21st of Feb). I have been riding about 50 miles a week give or take. Cant wait to get it over with a get back on the bike. Stoked to be here. THANKS

Hey Virgle, Sorry to hear about your ACL. I completely destroyed mine in 2005 (they vacuumed out the fibers that were remaining) in a biking accident. Took me a year to get back to 100% and another year to "get interested" in riding again, but I'm back at it. Good luck in your surgery and hope you can return to riding quickly!

Welcome aboard.

I'm no authority on injuries, but I do know this; bicycling makes my body feel better. Joints are more pliable and feel less brittle.

My experience suggests that once you can ride (maybe a bit gently for a while) it should help that ACL.

Best of luck.

Thanks guys, I have been staying active and feeling better every day, the doc says the stronger I go into surgery the faster and better I heal. Just ready for it to be summer and all behind me. Thanks again.

Wow, I feel for ya. I don't believe mine is that serious, I have been doing light rides on it (10-15 miles) and trying not to climb to much(which isn't a problem in flat ole IN). From what I understand They are gonna take 2 of my Hamstring tendonts out and put them in my knee. From what I understand the hamstrings will grow back. Thanks for the words of encouragement, and glad to hear you are back in the saddle.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Another fellow Hoosier here, welcome! Next time you're in Indianapolis stop by the new BGI store on 82nd. St. and look me up (Victor) as it will be truly one of the nicest shops in the country.

Do you ever ride the trails at Lake Winona there in Fort Wayne. I plan on taking a trip up there to ride. Maybe stop at Munchies and drink some of the Mad Anthony IPA.

Lake Winona is up next to Warsaw Indiana. Fort Wayne has great river greenway trails. I want to go down to Muncie and ride the trails down there. Welcome to the BF.
