Hi from Melbourne, Australia

Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase an urban bike that can take some beating & I'm seriously confused so I now am seeking bike experts for their opinion.
I have gone to a few dealers & no one (other than giant dealers) encourages me to look at Giant. I don't know enough about them to make a comment so I don't mind what I have seen.
I will be riding on bike paths & roads 70%, 15% will be off road & 15% trails & trekking.
I'm looking a bike that can be versatile to accomodate for both.
My final list is:

Giant Roam XR1 or XR2 or Seek 1 or 3
Scott Sportster 30
Jamis Coda Elie or Allegro Elite
Apollo Transfer 1-3 or Trace 2.0
Trek 8.5 DS

Can anyone provide any feedback with the above & which would be a better bike with quality parts?

Thanks in advance
