1990 Trek 7000- suspension fork

I have a 1990 Trek 7000 that was handed down to me from my father.
I would like to put a suspension fork on the bike, but not sure if there is a specific size or type that would be best for this application. Not looking for anything special, this bike is just used for basic trail and city riding.
