New rider - Tampa FL
Hello all!
I am 40 (as of tomorrow May 1 anyway) and live in Tampa FL. My primary source of exercise is inline skating, which I just got into back in late January and have already purchased 2 pairs of new skates. A lot of my skating group also bike, and have me interested in joining them at the park we skate/bike at. It's a nice 7 mile loop, flat, smooth paved trail in a "wilderness" environment.
I am currently in the market to find a road bike that is at least good enough to allow me to keep up. I borrowed a nice bike once and we did 21 miles, keeping a 16-22mph pace (primarily 19-20). We have a couple skaters that join a couple bikers in this and the bikes do the work of leading them around (yes, we have skaters in our group that can keep that pace for 21 miles).
I have a thread started asking a question about a couple bikes, any input would be helpful.

So true! You have NO IDEA what it looks/sounds like!
I started with this group on my mountain bike, and tried to follow a group of 4 fast skaters (probably 16-18mph??)...that didnt last long, they left me (I was out of shape then). Then I did the same thing on a road bike, and watching them skate in unison is what inspired me to start skating.
THEN....when I did the bike/skate combo group, I could HEAR the 2 skaters behind me (19-20mph)....it sounded like they were tearing the pavement up! I had to peel back for a short while and just watch...amazing!
Did this group last night (before I got my flat tire 9 miles in) and we had one skater and 3 bikes. Our skater loved having me directly in front of her, instead of the 2 girls that were in front of me. I'm taller and she had a much higher blockade to ride behind!
