In search of knowledge mainly...
I have many different hobbies that I enjoy and love from paintball to computers, video games, running, and now biking. I've always loved riding bikes, but I started going off road borrowing a friend's bike and got hooked. Me being in high school, I don't have a real job so I scrape by on what I earn doing odd jobs. However, I plan on saving up for a decent mountain bike, but first must learn the ins and outs. Hopefully I can achieve such a goal. Thanks to you future help.

Hey Fyreproof,
There are lots of folks who have good quality pieces/parts lying around. If you want to spend the time something decent can be built real cheap. It may not be shiny new but scrappers win races too.
Check out craigs list or swapmeets, or take a borrowed bike to a trailhead and schmooze, you never know who's anxious to help you out, with a top end derailleur!
good luck and have fun
