Im new to Bikeforums, but have been using it a lot the last couple weeks. I'm embarking on a European adventure end of the summer. Approximately 2000 miles in 6 weeks. Starting in Amsterdam and ending in Athens, it should be an adventure to remember. The "Touring" forum on here is a great tool with lots of information for the upcoming ride.
Here are the fact:
I just purchased a Surly Long Haul Tracker. I have a couple months to purchase the panniers and everything else I will need along the way. From Amsterdam, I will be headed towards Paris, then South East towards the west end of the French Alps, downwards towards Genoa, Italy and Cinque Terre. I will make my way through the Italian countryside via Florence and Rome to the Adriatic where I wil catch a Ferry to Corfu Greece and continue pedaling my little bicycle to finish line in Athens.
I am open to any and all suggestions, tips, help, etc. I feel like I have a lot planned, but still have NO IDEA how to plan the EXACT route. Im undecided if I want to get a GPS or print out a **** ton of Google Maps. I've found a few good websites like viamichelin.com and mapmyride.com, but still have no route set in stone.
I've created a website/blog to share everything I find along the way. If you're keen, check it out and follow me along my journey.
