Boo.
Hi. I'm new and just saying hello.
Getting into biking again for the first time in, er... well, since I started driving... so what's that? Um... 24 years? Cripes I'm old.
So anyway, since I have aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabsolutely no clue what I'm doing I figured I'd come on here and hopefully learn something from you all fine folk.
This is so like my adventures in photography... 9 years ago I bought a camera and had no clue what I was doing and became a member of a photography forum where I learned soooooo much. These days I'm a part-time pro photographer... something tells me I'll never go quite that far with a bike.
Right now I'm using my father in law's Trek Navigator 300 as a way to just get me back in the saddle. Currently researching and expecting I'll likely pickup a roadie sometime later in the summer.
I'm doing almost entirely night riding because I have a family and young kids who demand much of my daylight hours time. This has been working great, except for the rain/cold, and the poor bunny I smacked into last night when I was on a downhill. Poor thing. I felt awful.
Anyway, hi! Glad to be here. I hope someday I'll have enough clue to contribute meaningfully myself.

EarthMonkey, Good luck getting back into the swing of things. I bought my first new bike about five years ago after about five years of obsessive riding and some racing on the track and road. I thought I was finally going to get the chance to ride seriously on a competitive bike, but a series of injuries and busy family life made that impossible. I'm hoping to get back in the saddle this season as my latest meniscus tear heals - hoping to do a beautiful century out in Mt. Shasta, California in late summer.
