Beginner from Helsinki

Oh yes, I forgot to introduce myself. The name is Pertti Jarla, age 40. I recently got bored with my 90's Marin, wanting something cooler from the 60's-early 80's. I used to have a Raleigh Royale, it was stolen soon after me and my friend made a thorough restoration.

Now I'm attempting to restore a very dirty 1980/81 Crescent 3 speed for a town bike. Looking for a vintage Peugeot or something for longer trips. Being 172cm short doesn't help.

I hope this forum would allow private messaging without a minimum of 50 posts. Well, a cool and helpful place anyway.

so what is your ideal framesize?

as you know decent road bikes are few and far and overpriced in finland.
just last week a P.O.S. nishiki that was sitting outside for a few years sold for 70€ !!!

read up on the police auctions, but dont pay "what they are worth" there, as when you get it in your hands you might find some expensive flaws in the bike.

I will go to the Järvenpää police auction soon-join me!
shipping for a bike from europe is 50€, which opens up alot of bikes in your interests.

fall in love with PUCH bicycles and I will be more then happy to find you a sweetie for a good price!

My ideal seat tube length is up to 54cm. I can live with 56cm, 60 is impossible.
PUCH bikes are a new thing to me, sounds interesting. You are correct about the police auctions, I bought my Marin from one and spent double the price on necessary repairs. Unfortunately I can't make it to the 12.5. auction because of work. 26.5. would be good, but I wonder if they sell bikes on that day??
