50 yr old newb in Apex, NC
A couple of years ago we rented a house on the outer banks for vacation. We rented bikes for the week to get around in Duck, NC. It reacquainted me with riding, which I hadn't done since about age 14.
So when we got home from the beach I started checking out the LBS. I bought a Trek 7300 hybrid, since I wasn't sure if I would like mountain or road. I rode the hybrid on the local greenways and on the American Tobacco Trail, which is a reclaimed railway.
After doing that for a year, I decided I wanted to try road cycling. I bought a Trek 2.1 in November, and have just started getting off the trainer and out on the roads. I'm having fun, but I'm old and slow and not in shape yet. My goal is to do a century in September at the MS 150 in New Bern, NC.
