Where the Heck is Lagunitas?
 

Greetings from Lagunitas, California; population about 800, birthplace of the great beer by the same name. I'm one of those old guys (turning 60 in a month) who never got the memo that bike racing is for youngsters. I race masters cyclocross for the Bay 101/Rock Lobster team, also enter a few mountain bike races. My most recent road race was in 1975 so maybe I'm about due for another.

My way of giving back to the community is through volunteer trailbuilding for the various local land managers. Our local mountain bike and trail-building club, the Forest Knolls Freewheelers, has put in thousands of person hours for the local parks district, State Parks, National Park Service, National Forest, etc.

Lagunitas is bicycle heaven, lots of two-lane country roads, fire roads, and singletrack trails nearby. My wife and I put a good number of miles on our twenty-five-year-old Rock Lobster road tandem. We're thinking seriously of upgrading to a tandem that has all those new-fangled features like index shifting and a cassette instead of a freewheel.

Nice! I've been to Texas once and I hope to make it there at least once more. When I get there we'll sit down and have a Shiner together.
