This looks like a great forum. Biking?: on again off again.
We used to have a pair of those ‘old’ English style black 3 speeds. Fun bikes took use everywhere. When we got tired of those got Schwinn 10 speed Continentals. Remember those with the chrome fenders? Eventually stripped mine of as much weight as I could. Still heavy but an OK bike for an off again on again type of riding.
Eventually destroyed Continental by T-boneing a ditch – a testostrogain problem resulting in temporary lack of good judgment. Helmet in three pieces but head and neck remained in one piece. The second thing to hit the ground was my right shoulder and I did tear it up a little bit.
Have had Sherwood Diamondback 700x35 for last several years collecting more dust then miles. Now in an on again mode. Brother just gave me a GitaneNantes 44 (700x28) he pulled out of the trash several years ago and has been in garage. Looks interesting, has wing nuts for quick releases, original rims, no braze ons, Just invested enough time to do a quick lub job (chain VERY rusty), wash it off and do an inspection. No cracks or damage found.
Will start our using this knowledge of the guys on this forum to see if this French bike is worth investing time on, it would be my primary bike and I would but 700x32 tires on it for my 68 year old frame.
