New from Texas

Hi, I am new from Kingwood (just north of Houston), TX. These introductions are always hard so maybe I should tell you about my current training. I am an intermediate rider and have been riding about 2 years. Recently I have lost about 80 pounds riding my bikes and have gotten completely hooked. I am currently training for three rides in September / October 2012: Tour de Tahoe (72 mile Alpine), Ride for the Cure (100 mile), Bike Around the Bay (180 mile).

I have a few bikes now:

Sc
  • ott CR-1 Team Carbon
  • Cannondale r400 Aluminum
  • Home built Fixie with drop bars and a 46 15 gearing
  • Trek FX 7.3

One footnote - I am a diabetic and ride with Diabetes. Shameless plug for the Ride for the Cure.

Hello pkaltx,

Welcome to Bike Forums.

Bike riding is my diabetic medication.

Welcome aboard. I'm in Ft. Worth, but I get down toward Houston occasionally to visit family there.

Welcome to Kingwood. I am in Bear Branch. Lots of good places to ride around here. How far do you normally ride?

Some pics from The Houston Tour de Cure in Katy TX 9/22/12

I got in 51 miles and was able help some riders with flats.
