Hello from Charlotte, NC
Hi all, I recently moved to Charlotte from Southern Illinois for my first job. I went to Southern Illinois University Carbondale which is a very bike friendly town where I got into biking my last year on my still strong Schwinn Volare which I bought from Amazon.com. Typically I rode 10-15 mile journeys around town and the country, I moved to NC about 12 months ago and brought the bike, but let it collect dust in the closet. The last 4 months however I've been increasing my ride length, to 20, then 28 and today a 36 mile ride spanning two states!
One of the first things I did when I came here was visit a friend in Asheville, NC. While there we drove on the scenic Blue Ride Parkway and I've since been desiring to bike it on some level before I leave NC.
I plan to ride this bike for the next few months and gradually get to 60-70 mile rides. Once I've demonstrated to myself that I enjoy/am capable of longer rides I plan on indulging in a lighter/higher quality components bike hopefully on a winter closeout deal.
