Hello from STL
Hey everyone! i am new here obviously so I am saying hey! I am looking to purchase a road bike very shortly here and am surfing craigslist for something now. looking at vintage or 80's road bikes that are 100$ OR less. looking for Schwin varsity or le tour something like that. I dont know anything about road bikes so this is new, i just know that i want to start biking for excercise and retting something like this is perfect.
I live in st louis MO. I have a ~2007 Gary Fisher Wahoo mountain bike already. I love it, but managed to break a seat in the first month of riding it. Should not have gotten a hard tail bike lol
anyhow,I will be posting frequently on my journey to find a road bike that is cheap but ready to see some miles. Im into Atv's, snowboarding, skateboarding, and working on cars as well, so this will be basically ANOTHER hobby to ad to my list lol

Welcome to Bike Forums! Breaking the saddle (or seatpost?) has nothing to do with hardtail vs full-suspension. Come to the mountain bike forum and give us some details, we can probably help you figure out what happened.

I should include more info lol. OK so I have been biking since a very young age. I have had two other nice mountain bikes for their time; a trek mountian bike when I was 11 back around 1990 and a Diamond Back mountian bike back around 97. I dont have more info on them but am researching both bikes; they were very nice for that time and werent cheap either.
I have done the Katy Trail here in MO from one end to the other (like 180 miles total trip) 4 different years in a row when I was growing up with my dad and brother. I like to hit Castlewood here locally for some technical trails that are a blast.
I just fied my girlfriends bike that we got yesterday with some new cables; it is a Giant womens bike that I believe to be about a 2006 or 2007 model. Kinda big for her but shes new and it will get her going. Ok thats all! Thanks for reading lol

Ya i was just riding to hard on it and bent the heck out of the saddle cradle. Thing. thing. I dont know the terminology lol. I replaced the seat with a heavy duty seat, i forget the name but the two bars that sit ontop of the seat post are THICK. I should have gone with a bike that had rear suspension just to help with the tearain I ride on. Its rocky and rough in spots and honestly some rear suspension would help.
