Hi everyone, just thought I'd drop by and say hi.
20 years old from Glasgow. Been taking my cycling seriously for about 3 years now. I've been using a GT XC3 hardtail mountain bike for going to uni, pleasure rides and such for about 3 years. Getting relatively speedy on it now I think and I've started doing bike delivery work for a Mexican takeaway place in town. Bought a Specialized Secteur a few days ago and picking it up on wednesday, can't wait .
I've been doing a powerlifting-style strength training routine for a good while now, but as a result I've gotten a lot heavier, 5'6" 190lbs, but I'm only at 16% or so bf. I'm planning to lose a lot of fat as I feel like it'll greatly increase my cycling speed. I can already do the 9-mile run to work (including stopping at all lights) in under 25 minutes, which I'm quite happy with. My dads side of the family were all really big on cycling and I ended up giving my dad the cycling bug back when I got my GT hardtail.
I just learned about the 'pulling backwards at the bottom of the stroke' pedalling technique this week and I'm itching to get SPD'd into my road bike and try it .
Anyway, I'm sure I shall enjoy my time here .
