Another new guy here. I'm an Air Force guy stationed in San Antonio. I'm just getting back into cycling (road). I got a cheap starter bike by Ironhorse last July. I'm still doing very short rides, slowly working my way up to being able to do the MS150 Bike to the Beach in October. I'm also hoping to have saved up some extra cabbage for a new ride by then.

Due to time constraints and family obligations, most of my riding is on a trainer . I kill the boredom by watching TdF DVDs.

Tomorrow, I'm planning on showing up for my first group ride with the San Antonio Wheelmen. Since this is my first, I'll do the shortest of the 3 distances, 25 miles, to see how the pace is before I start pushing it further. My next goal is the 55 mile ride Easter weekend in Kerrville during the Easter Hill Country Tour.

I try to balance cycling with my other expensive time-hogging addiction, golf. They work well together - strong legs make for long drives.

DriveBy, last year my family and I visited San Antonio, and enjoyed it. Have you ever been out to the Horticulture gardens on the west side of town. I cannot remember the name of the place, but you probably know what I am talking about. Beutiful place.

I've been to the Botanical Gardens near the zoo if that's what you mean. I don't get out to the tourist stuff very often.

I think that is the place that we went to. It has a series of buildings with tropical habitats inside, and and outside botanical/horticulture exhibit. Also a model pioneer Texas farmhouse exhibit.Really impressive. You should go see it. I bet you would like it. Chicharron.
