Hi folks,
I'm a long time cyclist, but never been one to join too many groups or organizations. Having recently found my way back into NYC and being able to use bicycles for commuting once again, I have begun to feel the draw of road bikes -- I feel a lot more at home riding in cities than suburban traffic. Never knowing much about brands or names for certain parts, I always relied on bikes' relative mechanical simplicity and an assortment of my own tools and tricks. But now it's time to get a bit more serious, take advantage of what today's technology has to offer, listen to people in the know, and not be a cheapskate all the time
I recently purchased a Technium road bike from a friend, tightened everything up, threw some lube and new brake shoes on it, got the wheels straightened, and so far we're having a good time. Can't believe I stayed away from road bikes for so long (been a long time hybrid rider) -- they're so damn fun.
