Tampa, FL checking in!
Hello! My names Mike. I'm a larger guy 6'1" and weigh 315lbs and just got into biking. I bought a specialized sirrus sport to test the waters. Couldn't justify spending too much on a hobby I didn't know I would enjoy. Turns out I like it allot more than I expected. So now I am in the market for an upgrade. And what I have my eyes on is the Giant Defy 3 composite. I rode one just recently and fell in love. I hated the strait bars on my (SSS) wore on my triceps and when you just worked out triceps the day before its a pain!
I think I am sold on the bike.... but if anyone wants to throw in their .02 I would appreciate it. I bought my first bike from aj's bikes and boards in brandon and thought they were a great shop. They actually said they could get me the GD3C for $1,550 cash. I feel that is fair since it retails for $1,750 (if I'm not mistaken).
I commute with my bike to the gym but would like to get into more long distance riding. I never realized how fun a bike could be. Now I can justify spending big money on a bike.
Also if there are any groups that ride flat woods, UTBT, or any others let me know I would love to ride in a group when I purchase my next bike (whatever it may be, maybe there is a better bike out there someone will recommend).
I'm new to the game but trying to learn!

Welcome to the forum. I'm in Tallahassee and got back into biking a bit over a year ago. Initially just to ride around the neighborhood with my wife. Turned out I too liked it a lot more than I expected. I started on a bike with flat bars and ditched that within a month. I'm mostly just riding 25-35 miles due to time constraints, but looking to get my first metric century in soon.

Hi Mike,
Welcome to Bike Forums from a Texas road rider.
Good price for that bike.
Make Darn sure they adjust the spoke tension on the new bikes wheels before you ride it.
Check with local bike shops for rides and riders to join in with.
